Declaration of Liquid Culture 2013-01-17 | [Orignial German Text] Preamble: History has not ended – it is liquefying. When we cruise down the river on a boat, we recognise our own movement in the passing river banks. Ever new sections of the banks appearing in front of us while others which had just passed are left behind makes, what we sense as progress. The wider the river, the less we are able to notice our own movement – until on the open sea we finally lose our frame of reference onto which we would tie progress.
Futuristen kontra Utopisten 2012-08-29 | In der Piratenpartei gibt es angeblich einen Konflikt zwischen “Kernis”, den Piraten, die meinen, die Partei sollte sich auf ihre (tatsächlichen oder vermeintlichen) Kernthemen konzentrieren, also Urheberrecht, Datenschutz, Informationsgesellschaft - und den “Vollis”, also Leuten, die glauben, die Piraten-Idee ließe sich konsequent auf viele, wenn nicht alle Teile der Gesellschaft übertragen und daraus also ein Vollprogramm entwickeln. Das wäre in etwa vergleichbar zu den Fundis und Realos bei den Grünen. Ich glaube, dass aber die Bruchlinie ganz anders läuft.
Ein paar Gedanken zur politischen Philosophie der Piratenpartei 2012-08-15 | In der andauernden Diskussion um die scheinbare oder tatsächliche Programmlosigkeit der Piratenpartei, hielt ich es für sinnvoll, einmal in sehr grober und knapper Form aufzuschreiben, was ich glaube, dass die Grundlage der Piraten-Politik ist. Liquid Democracy 2012-08-01 | “Code is Law” is the catch phrase of Lawrence Lessig famous bestseller[9] on the future of democracy. From the beginning of the Internet revolution, there has been the discussion, whether our new forms of media and communication would lead to another revolution as well: a political one[11]. Many of the media and platforms that rose over last decade show aspects of communal or even social systems – and hence might be called Social Media with good cause. Thus, it does not come as a surprise that we start to see the development of the communication platforms that are genuinely meant to support and at the same time to experiment with new forms of political participation, like Proxy-Voting or Liquid Democracy, which had been hardly conceivable without the infrastructure of the Web1. Since these new forms of presenting, debating, and voting for policies have been occurring just recently, we can expect that many other varieties will appear, new concepts to translate the internet paradigm into social decision making. Nevertheless, how do these new forms of voting work? Are they really mapping the volonté générale into decisions? If so, will it work in a sustainable, stable, continuous way? And how to evaluate the systems, one compared to another?2

Poetische Politik - das Programm der russischen Piratenpartei 2012-07-05 | Am 30. Juni um 15:00 Uhr hat sich die Piratenpartei Russlands gegründet. Eine kosmopolite, radikal humanistische Bürgerrechtspartei, noch dazu mit Ideen aus dem Ausland, ist im derzeitigen politischen Klima Russlands schon eine Sensation. Aber für mich ist eine andere Tatsache noch bemerkenswerter: die russischen Piraten haben ihr Grundsatzprogramm als Gedicht verfasst!
