Glass stereo slide depicting a train crash at the Gare de Montparnasse in Paris.
Stereograph of the train derailment at Gare de Montparnasse on 22 October 1895. This stereograph is a great example of early photography entertainment technology. The police investigation at the site required that the locomotive would remain in place for more than two days after the accident, allowing many photographs to be taken. The stereograph when viewed through the stereoscope renders the image in actual 3D.
